My central extract unit (ULV, USV, USVX) is making noise – what can I do?
Are you experiencing noise from your central extract unit? If your ULV, USV or USVX unit is making noise, the fan may need cleaning.
Answer:
If your ULV, USV or USVX central extract unit is making noise, this is usually caused by a dirty fan. The fan should be cleaned at least once a year.
How to clean the fan:
- Unplug the unit from the special socket to make sure the fan is completely disconnected from power
- Carefully pull the connection box loose from the fan side. It is attached with Velcro
- Unscrew the four mounting screws on the round motor plate
- Pull the entire fan straight out of the fan housing while holding the square connection box
- Use a non-water-based degreasing cleaner together with a small scraper or brush to remove dirt from the fan wheel
- Be careful not to damage or squeeze the fan wheel
- Avoid getting liquid inside the motor
- Let the fan dry completely before reinstalling it in reverse order
